February 7 – Feb 10,2003

My Dear Emily,

Pa brought you home today from Nashville to spend a few days with us while your Mommy is vacationing with girl friends in Florida. Your Daddy took Sarah Beth to Atlanta to visit his friend Dan Etoll and his daughter. We were just so excited to have you all to ourselves. It is the first time we’ve had one-on-one time with you. You were so reluctant and teary when you got here and you were so clingy to Pa. You warmed up to me when I brought out the cheddar confetti crackers.

You were happy, content and playful. You don’t talk a lot but you have quite a vocabulary. You say whatever you want and you put several words together. You love Cedarmont Kid videos (action songs). You even try to sing along. You are never still for more than a minute. I call you my little monkey for you will climb on anything. You would scale the walls if you could. Anytime we would put you in the baby bed and leave the room it would only be a few seconds and we would hear your feet hit the floor. We would re enter the room, bed you down again, wait outside the door only to hear your feet hit the floor. If it weren’t for the bedroom door being so hard to open we would have worried about you falling down the steps.

You took your naps on Pa’s chest. He loved that! We took you to church and you were just a little angel sitting between us snacking on crackers and doing a sticker book. You even tried to sing with the congregation. We treasured this special time with you. You have blessed our lives so.

We are so thankful for you and we are so thankful that you have quit screaming to get your way! We were more than anxious for you to unlearn that. You are special; the time with you was special; and the time for you to go home was special!

Love,
Granna
